In Moorooka, within Brisbane’s busy south-west automotive precinct, a leading new car dealership faced a common but costly challenge in their pre-delivery process.
For obvious reasons, every vehicle on display and prepared for delivery to its new owner needed to look immaculate. Unfortunately, the existing automatic wash system was falling well short of expectations, delivering poor results. It was doing little more than a garden sprinkler!
The Service Manager contacted us seeking a solution.
An inefficient and outdated car washing process
The dealership’s old automatic car wash was doing little more than rinse vehicles. With minimal pressure, no underbody cleaning, and no wheel wash capability, the results were underwhelming at best. After a 12-minute cycle, cars still required manual washing!
Each vehicle took up to 45 minutes to clean.
This created a significant inefficiency. Mechanics were forced to stop working on vehicle preparation and installing aftermarket accessories to wash cars by hand. This not only slowed down operations but also increased labour costs.
New cars arriving at the dealership from the Port of Brisbane were often covered in road grime and contaminants. Vehicles sitting on the lot also accumulated dust daily. Maintaining a spotless, showroom-quality finish is essential to their success, making this a far from ideal situation.

Implementing a purpose-built car wash solution
After discussions with the customer, we recommended the installation of a new Istobal M’Wash2 automatic car wash system.

The results were immediate and substantial. What once took up to 45 minutes of manual labour was reduced to a complete wash and dry cycle in just 7 minutes.
The dealership can now wash and dry approximately 6 to 7 vehicles per hour, with no bottlenecks and no need for pre-planning.
Vehicles can be driven into the wash bay, and while the machine works, staff are free to focus on higher-value tasks. By the time they return, the vehicle is clean, dry, and ready for the customer.
