Installation of an ISTOBAL HW’PROGRESS plus self-serve truck wash equipment for a large transport company.

We recently installed an ISTOBAL HW’PROGRESS and self-serve truck washing equipment at a new facility for a transport and logistics company in Griffith, regional NSW, helping keep its fleet clean and well presented.

The development forms part of the company’s expansion, positioning its processing facility close to suppliers. Good Sight was engaged to provide truck washing equipment tailored to the fleet’s ongoing cleaning requirements.

Working with the client during the planning stage, we supplied wash bay specifications to ensure the bays were built to accommodate the ISTOBAL equipment.

Matching the equipment to the fleet

Choosing the right truck wash starts with understanding the vehicles it will service.

To this end, we discussed the client’s fleet, vehicle dimensions, body configurations and cleaning requirements before recommending the ISTOBAL HW’PROGRESS with additional high-pressure washing.

Designed for large commercial vehicles, the HW’PROGRESS is an automatic rollover machine that travels along rails while the vehicle remains stationary. Its robust, hot-dip galvanised steel structure supports the brushes and wash equipment as they move along the vehicle.

Available in two-brush or three-brush configurations, the machine can be tailored to different fleet requirements. Vertical brushes clean the sides, front and rear, while an optional horizontal brush provides additional cleaning of suitable upper surfaces.

A range of tailored wash programs

Heavy vehicle and truck washing involves more than accommodating a larger vehicle. Different cab shapes, trailer bodies, mirrors and external fittings affect where brushes can operate and where high-pressure washing is more suitable.

The type of dirt matters, too. Light dust may require a quick rinse, while accumulated road grime and grease need a more intensive approach.

For this client, we configured wash programs around its fleet and operating needs.  Fleet managers can select the appropriate program for the vehicle and the level of cleaning required.

The settings can also be reviewed and adjusted through remote technical access as requirements change, giving the client flexibility as its fleet and operations develop.

High pressure for hard-to-reach areas

Adding high-pressure washing gives the HW’PROGRESS greater versatility.

Rotating high-pressure nozzles direct water at different angles, helping remove dirt from recesses and irregular surfaces that brushes cannot effectively reach.

The combination system allows brush washing and high-pressure cleaning to complement each other. For vehicles needing a lighter clean, operators can select a quick touchless program to remove loose dust and dirt.

A dedicated plant room houses the pumping equipment. The installation’s six-pump arrangement supplies the high-pressure system, enabling the specified high-pressure wash stages to operate in a single pass and helping reduce wash time.

A separate manual wash bay

Alongside the automatic machine, we installed a self-serve truck wash in a separate bay.

The manual wash equipment uses sliding hose carriers on a 30-metre C-track system. This allows operators to move the hoses along the vehicle, making it easier to reach different sections of a long truck or trailer.

Supporting the hoses overhead also reduces the amount of hose dragged across the ground, helping keep the work area clearer and reducing hose wear.

The separate bay provides an option for targeted cleaning and additional attention to areas that need manual washing.

Hot water and water recycling

To help tackle grease and built-up grime, we supplied purpose-built high-pressure units with integrated instantaneous electric water heating.

Hot water assists with loosening oily deposits, complementing the pressure and appropriate cleaning chemicals used during manual washing.

We also installed an ISTOBAL water recycling system to treat wash water for reuse in suitable wash stages, helping reduce demand for fresh water.

Together, the automatic combination machine, manual wash bay, hot-water equipment and recycling system provide a practical fleet-cleaning facility tailored to this Griffith operation.
