Good Sight Sales Manager, Greg Williamson, recently took a business development trip to the United States to check out what’s happening in the industry.
Greg visited multiple facilities where he observed the rapid expansion of conveyors and tunnels in some regions, as well as the “value-added” services operators use to attract customers to their sites.
The major difference between the Australian and North American markets is the larger population and land affordability in the U.S.
Large tunnels are the perfect solution to accommodate heavy customer demand, while cheaper land values mean the installation of these large machines is more affordable.
This was particularly evident in colder states where salt is used to melt snow on the roads and vehicles require washing three times more frequently to prevent salt-inducted corrosion.
Another common sight was large enclosures offering complimentary vacuum use. This smart competitive advantage was drawing in more customers.
We believe that offering free vacuum use is an option Australian facility operators could consider. With only one car space needed per vacuum installation, it has potential.
